An Anthem for Freedom and Inclusion

“For over a year, we were all confined. But what happens when you are a person with a mental disability? Well, it’s very different from you and me... We have the right to choose, the luxury of deciding for ourselves what rules to follow or not” says Damien Magnette, the leader of the band. This is because the Wild Classical Music Ensemble is distinguished by its inclusive composition, comprising musicians with mental and cognitive disabilities.

During the pandemic, the disabled members of the band faced even harsher conditions of isolation compared to most people. Despite the difficulties, the group's leader, Damien Magnette, managed to stay in touch with them through remote musical sessions. From this experience, an album was born that expresses the pain, loneliness, and frustration experienced during that time, while also including moments of hope and positivity.

Musically, the Wild Classical Music Ensemble draws from a variety of genres, ranging from punk to avant-garde, passing through noise rock and electronic music. This combination of styles creates sounds that challenge norms and explore new horizons. The lyrics, often written in multiple languages, including French, Dutch, and English, reflect the rich cultural diversity of the band.

With a distinctly rock sound, enriched by moments of notable pop influence, the result is a true exploration of creative freedom that transcends the boundaries between art and disability, offering a sonic experience that questions conventions and promotes social inclusion.
