Mount Elephant
*Mount Elephant*: A Musical Exploration of Slowness and Joy
*Mount Elephant* is the new album by Alessio Ferrari, known as Upupayāma, that explores psychedelic and organic sounds. This work combines influences from Bhutanese music, Thai disco, and Anatolian psychedelia, creating a unique fusion of styles.
The album invites a sonic meditation that celebrates the beauty of slowness and the listening of silence. Ferrari, who writes and records everything himself, uses a variety of instruments such as guitars, keyboards, flute, and sitar.
The recordings were made in his studio in a quiet village near Parma. The music is characterized by moments of sweetness and introspection that explode into distorted riffs and dancing rhythms.
The opening track, ‘Moon Needs the Wolf’, starts softly and evolves into an energetic groove, while ‘Thimpu’ conveys the desire to visit Bhutan. ‘Fil Dağı’ invites you to imagine parties around a fire. The final track, ‘Mount Elephant’, represents a sonic journey that combines tranquility and power. Ferrari describes this album as playful and childish, an exploration of the emotions and sounds that surround us.
*Mount Elephant* is an invitation to experience music with calm and openness, discovering new sonic worlds.
