White Roses, My God
*White Roses, My God*: A Barrier Worth Breaking
“There’s a moment when something comes out of your mouth that you didn’t know was going to come out, and then it transforms into something else. And then into something else again. And it shakes you. Because what just came out was more precise, accurate, and organized than anything you could have imagined” says Alan Sparhawk, co-founder of the band Low, pioneers of the slowcore movement.
Eleven tracks to exorcise pain, to release it and transform it. The use of the vocoder and electronic effects shifts the listening experience to another plane, where linearity collapses, creating a space beyond description, a new reality. It’s precisely there, in this new dimension, that words like loss and loneliness find a way to transform.
White Roses, My God is a deep emotional journey, born from the loss of his wife, Mimi Parker (the heart of Low).
The album was recorded at 20 Below Studios in Duluth, Minnesota. Co-produced and engineered by Alan Sparhawk and Nat Harvie, it represents a significant turning point in Sparhawk’s career, marking his first official solo work.
